Purify My Heart

Recently, I've been really challenged with the word pure. Am I pure in all areas of my life? At FOCIS, in Minnesota, some of us youth got up early one morning, and jammed out in the chapel. We sang a song that morning, and again later at campfire that night. The words of the song really challenged me and kept playing over and over in my mind. When I got home, I learned the song on the piano :] The song is called, "Refiners Fire," and below are the words:

Purify my heart, let me be as gold and precious silver.
Purify my heart, let me be as gold, pure gold.

Refiner's fire, my heart's one desire, is to be holy,
          Set a-part for You, Lord.
I choose to be holy, set a-part for You, my Master,
          Ready to do Your will.

Purify my heart, cleanse me from within and make me holy
Purify my heart, cleanse me from my sin, deep within.

Refiner's fire, my heart's one desire, is to be holy,
          Set a-part for You, Lord.
I choose to be holy, set a-part for You, my Master,
          Ready to do Your will.

And so, as the words say, my one desire is to be holy, set a-part for my Heavenly Father--I desire to be pure in every area of my life. And one day, when my Best Friend calls me home, I hope He is pleased with me, His daughter, and I desire to meet Him [with a pure heart] when He calls me home !

When I think of the word pure--I think of lily-whiteness--purity. And so, I have added a few pictures of lilies, because of the meaning they have for me.

White Lily

And so, my heart's one desire is to stay pure in all areas of my life, and to live for my higher calling, to be holy, as my Jesus has called me to be holy. I'm not sure what that all looks like in my own life, but whatever or however it is, I pray God will show me, and I will listen to His voice--His calling for me to live a life of holiness and purity.
